EDUCATORS FOR NONVIOLENCE

Imagine for a moment…how might the world be different if values, ethics and peace were as much a part of the core curriculum as reading, writing and math?

In 2004 a handful of educators who believe this shift is inevitable came together to form a grass-roots organization to help make it happen.

The group includes teachers and peace-workers with a wide range of experience and specialties, including a graduate student, a high school teacher with decades of experience, and the founder of one of the pioneering university programs in Peace Studies.

The group calls itself Educators for Nonviolence.  Its mission is to “support those working to make teaching and living nonviolence a part of mainstream education.”

The Dalai Lama Foundation has actively supported this new organization, with both organizational and technical support.

The group has held three annual summer teacher conferences in the San Francisco Bay Area.

All teachers and anyone seriously interested in education are invited to join in the work of this new group. Contact information is available on EFNV's website.

If we are to have peace,
we will have to begin with the children.
